FPInnovations and NRCan working towards the fruition of wooden mid- and high-rise buildings in Canada

With encouragement and financial support from Natural Resources Canada, FPInnovations is working on providing new solutions for wooden mid-rise buildings and their acceptance in North American codes and standards. It looks like we are not that far from seeing wooden buildings that are nine or 10 storeys high – more than double what was permitted less than five years ago.

BC MFLNRO’s Process-Based Wood Treatment Specification for Bridge Materials

In early 2009, British Columbia’s Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations (MFLNRO) reviewed its wood treatment specification for bridge materials, which specified conformance to Canadian Standards Association requirements (CSA 080). The MFLNRO bridge designs specify Douglas-fir for structural components.
