Reducing Fuel Consumption – from the Test Track to the Roadway
In the Canadian forest products industry, FPInnovations, with encouragement and financial support from Natural Resources Canada, is leading the way in conducting studies to find various means of reducing fuel consumption. FPInnovations recently published reports that include test-track results and recommendations that mark the shift from research to implementation of fuel saving technologies to the transportation sector – most apply to truck transport throughout the forest products supply chain, from log trucks to bulk trucks hauling chips and biomass, to highway vans carrying finished products.

A new wood sound abatement system made of B.C. coastal hem‐fir and developed by FPInnovations and Western Forest Products is providing municipalities with a natural, sustainable option to reduce traffic noise. The environment‐friendly and cost-effective wood‐concrete hybrid sound abatement system meets and exceeds code requirements with a smaller environmental footprint than other systems.

Joint Conference Kruger – AF2R 2012

The Departmental Forestry, Geography and Geomatics of Laval University and the Association forestière des deux rives (AF2R) will be hosting the Joint Conference Kruger - AF2R 2012.
